I want to do a repair of my XP home and I get as far as being asked
for administrator password...if u don't enter the right one by the 3rd
attempt, you have to cancel and start all over again. I don't recall
if I ever entered a password when i first installed XP. ..but I do now
whenever I am greeted with it on the xp screen. I did enter that, but
it keeps saying it is not recognized. I've tried letter sensitive and
non sensitive and yet no entrance. I tried to do a regedit search
but its like looking for a needle in a haystack. I don't even know if
it would be listed in the registry. Again no luck. Does anyone know
how I can get past this password problem? Does this mean I cannot ever
repair my XP?

Wrong "Repair" option. Follow the prompts for an installation, after you
select the drive you want to install to you get another Repair offer. Take
that one.

You  were trying to get into the Recovery Console. The password is 'Blank'.
Just hit Enter if you want in.

HI Relic, thanks..i found out about the password after I wrote the
post. I did not know there was another "R" option as u said. What
happened in my case, after entering a command prompt with Windows
appeared and was asked to enter a command...i had no idea what to
put..no explanation ever came with this and I never tried the "R"
mode. ...so I entered R, thinking that i may be sent to the repair
area, instead a bunch of commands came up..so I just canceled. could
you tell me what exactly I should look for to get to that R area you
mentioned? Thanks

If you have administator rights, you can change the administrator

password, even when you are not logged in as such.
I did, when I was unsure about the admin password.

XP Home is the peasants' edition and as such you would not be aware of a
number of things that occur during the installation.
One of those things is that you don't get to set an administrator password.
Now, since you didn't set a password then the password should be blank so
you'll be able to just hit the motherfucking enter key at the point you're
asked for a password.

Of course, if someone else installed XP for you then have them explain all
this shit to you.

HTH you hairy cunted ho'
