Have today installed the new update which is designed to prevent any1
redirecting your web page input to a dodgy site.
The result was complete loss of contact with my ISP (Pipex). removal of the
update restored functionabality...any1 else had problems ?? |

Same problem here. If I uninstall the update everything works fine, but the
damned thing keeps trying to reinstall itself. |

So it's either stay off the internet or access it without a firewall? Not
much of a choice. Think I'd rather go without the update.

Not much help there. Option one: I'm already at that setting. Option two:
Did that, it keeps wanting to reinstall itself.

Turn off automatic updates then. If a system is working correctly why
let Mickt$oft tamper with it so that they can 'break' perfectly good
third party applications that compete with their own substandard
offernigs?

Control panel .... Automatic updates ...... planty of choices there to
stop updates reloading..
A message from Zone alarm .. 12/07/08
We have been working with MS over night on the issue. We are very
confident a fix will be released soon. As far as how that is
distributed either a patch from MS or in the form of a new build from
ZA has not been determined.
We will notify all users of a fix when its ready at the top of the
forum in the main announcements section.
We also still stand by our current workaround that you should
uninstall the MS update KB951748
And do not set your ZA internet security level to Medium. By setting
to Medium you potential expose your computers to a huge number of
other threats than just the one that this patch from MS fixes.

Anybody ever warn you to have automatic updates not turned on?
This is not the first time a perfectly running system was clobbered by
an automatic msft update.
